Energy efficient technology and equipment for the production of isotropic hot rolled sheet with a high level of mechanical characteristics



A new technology and equipment has been developed to produce an isotropic hot rolled sheet with a high level of mechanical characteristics in the transverse direction.

The new production technology is based on the use of Thermo-plastic processing (TPO) by alternating elastic-plastic bending in a planetary-type deforming machine in the temperature range of BTMO and HTMO to form a set of mechanical characteristics in a direction different from the direction of rolling.

A distinctive feature of TPO from traditional methods of thermomechanical processing (TMT) is that the accumulation of a given value of the degree of deformation occurs without changing the original sheet thickness. To reduce the anisotropy of the mechanical characteristics of the sheet, alternately sign alternating bending in the longitudinal and transverse directions, alternating bends in the transverse direction with smoothing.

The technical result of the invention is to increase the complex mechanical characteristics of the coiled strip with a thickness of less than 20 mm, reducing anisotropy and increasing the flatness of the rolled strip in the production process in the combined casting and rolling units direct casting.

Allows you to increase the mechanical characteristics of flat rolled products in directions other than rolling, including the cross, without changing the thickness of the rolled.

Allows 12 -: – 15% increase the complex mechanical properties of flat rolled products in the transverse direction, especially structurally sensitive (impact strength at -40 ° C).

Allows you to get an isotropic sheet preventing the appearance of festoons in the subsequent deep drawing.

Allows you to fully work out the original cast structure of a continuous-cast flat billet with thicknesses of 4 -: – 12 mm and remove its initial warpage after a two-roll caster before rolling.

The structure of the equipment allows to fit into the existing technological lines of casting and rolling complexes.

Technological equipment for plastic processing (deforming machine of a planetary type) allows changing the size and direction of plastic processing in a wide range, regardless of the speed of the rolled steel in the casting-rolling unit.

  • 1987 - 1992

    A method and installation of TPO was developed. Production method and installation have been patented. Patents SU1297963 Bul. No. 11 of 23.03.87., SU1735397 Bul. No. 19 of 23.05.92.

  • 2004 - 2017

    From 2004 to 2017, research work was carried out at INMET to improve the technology of TPO, which led to the creation of a new improved technology. New method and installation have been patented, Patent RU 2607855 Publ.20.01.2017

  • Today

    Currently, the design of a pilot plant TPO, the development of a metallurgical complex project, the search for a strategic investor partner are being carried out.
